This Saturday on the first day of the 2009 Apple Cup presented by Columbia Asphalt the regular season points chase begins for the Burger Ranch Sportsman division at ASA Sanctioned Yakima Speedway.

New rules and a new class name welcome the core of drivers in this class back to the Speedway. Expected to try and claim the Apple Cup title and most likely first race points lead are defending class champion Mel Patnode, John Raney, Reece Kastl, Chris VanAmburg,
Barry Mueller,  Billy Benge and Randy Marshall, Jr. all of whom have had cars at one or more of the preseason practices.

A big equalizer in this division seems to be the new restrictor plate rule that has created some very consistent lap times in those cars that have seen track time. This should bring the fans some of the closest racing in any of the divisions this year.

Yakima Speedway welcomes back Burger Ranch as a sponsor of the Sportsman division. Burger Ranch has been involved with many local area events and sponsorships for many years and we are proud to count them as one of ours.
