ASA NWLMT Speeds into Spokane County Raceway

Marysville, WA (May 6, 2009): A new series and a newly rejuvenated race facility meet up on Saturday May 9, 2009. Spokane County Raceway will host the American Speed Association Northwest Late Model Tour for the 'Grand Opening 125'. The Northwest's best Super Late Model Stock Car drivers are congregating to christen the newly purchased and operated multi use facility. Drawing drivers from Washington, Oregon, Idaho and British Columbia the super high banked .500-mile oval will be a test that the premier racers welcome.

Race #2 of the 10-race series for the ASA Northwest Late Model Tour has formidable drivers registering. The 'Grand Opening 125' will field drivers that have some to no experience on the tricky oval. As in the past these highly experienced teams will figure it out and by race time the competition will be tense.

The new series is a joint effort by the former Late Model Challenge Series and Northwest Tour. The former Spokane Raceway Park is now owned by Spokane County and operated by Austin Motorsports Management. The LMCS was last in Spokane in 2007 with Gary Lewis (Snohomish, WA) coming away victorious. The NWT has not been on the oval in over 20-years.

Drivers registered from the Spokane area that have experience at SCR are Shelby Thompson (Spokane, WA), Rusty Webb (Deer Park, WA) and Kevin Richards (Newman Lake, WA).

The west side drivers to watch are Brad Stanwood (Portland, OR), Kelly Mann (Monroe, WA), Jared Vorse (Olympia, WA) and Jay Sauls (Puyallup, WA).

Brent Harris (E. Wenatchee, WA), Mike Longton (Moxee, WA) and Erick Hargraves (Toppenish, WA) represent the best of Central Washington.

Add to the mix former champions Lewis and Pete Harding (Surrey, B.C.) along with father son racers Rod Schultz Sr & Jr.

Three Port City Racecars 'Rookie of the Year Challengers' make their first ASA NWLMT appearances at SCR. Allen Cress (Albany, OR), Amanda MacDonald (Ephrata, WA) and Joey Tanner (Portland, OR).
