Yakima, WA (April 10, 2010): The first day of the two day 44th annual Apple
Cup at Yakima Speedway in Yakima, Washington saw many cars qualify for day
two. The H&H Furniture Pure Stocks held their 30-lap main with Joe Estep
(Yakima) winning his first ever main event. The Super Late Model Shoot Out
had Mike Longton (Moxee) winning the 50-lap event on the speedway's
.500-mile paved oval. On the pole for Sunday's Columbia Asphalt 125 for the
super late models will be Brian Lavont (Calgary, Alb) after having his best
ever qualifying lap.

The Pure Stock main was close for all 30-laps. Winner Estep took the lead
with 12 laps to go. Second place finisher and fast qualifier Jay Yonker
(Selah) kept continued pressure on Estep for the remainder of the race.
Estep was not intimidated and went on to win his ever main. Third place went
to Terry Cook (Yakima).

The other main of the day was the Super Late Model Shoot Out 50-lap race.
Longton was never headed after taking the lead very early. The only
challenge came with five laps remaining after a late caution restart. The
top four cars started nose to tail and Longton pulled quickly away from the
side by side tussle for second between Brent Harris (E. Wenatchee, WA) and
Jason Fraser (Snohomish, WA). Fraser finally moved to second with two-to-go
and could not make any headway towards Longton. Harris finished third.

Day two on Sunday April 11 starts at 1pm with the Burger Ranch Sportsman for
40-laps followed by the Tire Centers Super Street Stocks for 60-laps. The
afternoon ends with the Columbia Asphalt 44th Annual Apple Cup 125 for the
best northwest drivers.
