At a Glance: World of Outlaws at Thunderbowl Raceway

World of Outlaw drivers stay on the West Coast after a crowd-pleasing Las Vegas stop last weekend. Jason Meyers, Donny Schatz, Steve Kinser and the stars of dirt sprint car racing come to Northern California for this week's action. Thunderbowl Raceway is the host for the series third racing event. The Tulare, Calif. track is a high-banked 1/3-mile oval. The track record of 12.713 seconds at 94.297 mph was established by Terry McCarl on March 20, 2009.

WHAT

After one of the more thrilling events in World of Outlaws history last Friday night in Las Vegas, the series heads to Groppetti Automotive Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, California this weekend for the first two short track races of the season on the high-banked 1/3-mile on Friday, March 5 and Saturday, March 6. For Jason Meyers, who was victorious last weekend, Thunderbowl Raceway is home track, and he enters the two-day event looking for his first World of Outlaws win in Tulare. Joey Saldana and Randy Hannagan split wins at Thunderbowl Raceway in 2009. Five drivers currently competing full-time with the World of Outlaws have won at the track dating back to the series inaugural visit there in 2003, including 20-time series champion and current series point leader Steve Kinser, four-time and defending series titlist Donny Schatz, California native Tim Kaeding and Hall of Famer Jac Haudenschild.

WHEN

On Friday, March 5 at Thunderbowl Raceway, the pit gates will be open all day with the pit sign-in taking place around 3 p.m. Pacific The grandstand gates will open at 5 p.m. Pacific with hot laps tentatively set for 6 p.m. Pacific.

On Saturday, March 6, at Thunderbowl Raceway the pit gates will be open all day with the pit sign-in taking place around 3 p.m. Pacific The grandstand gates will open at 5 p.m. Pacific with hot laps tentatively set for 6 p.m. Pacific.

WHERE

Thunderbowl Raceway is located in Tulare, California, at the corner of Bardsley and K
Streets. Travel west of State Road 99 on State Road 137, then 0.5 miles south on K Street, then east to the Tulare County Fairgrounds.

 Thunderbowl Raceway is a high-banked 1/3-mile. The World of Outlaws raced eight times on a track that size in 2009.
