North Idaho College’s Outdoor Pursuits will sponsor the seventh annual NIChallenge, an adventure race, Saturday, June 18 in the North Idaho wilderness (at a yet-to-be-announced location).
The NIChallenge is a sprint adventure race that incorporates paddling, trail running and mountain biking, special challenges and navigation trials. The race takes approximately four hours to complete.
Specific details of the NIChallenge course will not be released until just before the race to ensure that participants retain their sense of adventure, according to Outdoor Pursuits Coordinator Jon Totten. Past races have been held at locations such as Farragut State Park and Beauty Bay on Lake Coeur d’Alene.
Teams of two or four members in co-ed, all-male or all-female divisions must register by June 13. Cost is $80 per person or a special early registration rate of $70 per person for those who register by June 6.
“While the NIChallenge is primarily a team race, a solo division has been added this year for those who want to participate, but are unable to convince their friends to race with them,” Totten said.
