WATERSPORTS -- The Q’emiln Park Boat Launch will open and parking fees will go into effect starting Friday, June 12, the Post Falls Recreation Department has announced.

The boat launch opening was delayed this year by Avista's South Channel Dam Rehabilitation Project.

Construction equipment being used for the project stored in the parking area has been removed and vehicles with trailers can now safely navigate the parking lot, officials say.

The park, located at the south end of the Spokane Street bridge, features a swimming beach, boat launch, BBQ pits, picnic shelters, horseshoe pits, volleyball courts, concession stand, restrooms, and a 40-acre trail system.

Reservations can be made for picnicking at two small covered shelters (the Gazebo & Picnic Shelter), a large covered Grand Pavilion 60’x120’, an enclosed Trailhead Pavilion, and grassy areas. Dogs are not allowed at the beach and park. For information call Post Falls Recreation Dept. 773-0539.
