WINTERSPORTS -- Sunday was Janye McLaughlin's first chance to ski this season at Mount Spokane State Park, and the cross-country skiing trails seemed to say, "Welcome back!"

After participating in coaching skills sessions for Spokane Nordic most of the day, "the highlight was during my return ski on Valley View," she said in an email with the photo above. "I guess I was in the right place at the right time. It was special."
