Free weed management workshop offered in Cheney

HABITAT -- A free day of weed management workshops is set for Tuesday, March 22, organized by the Channeled Scablands Cooperative Weed Management Area  Committee.  The workshops run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. at Eastern Washington University's  Showwalter Hall, Room 109 at 526 Fifth St. in Cheney.

Designated parking for the event is in Lot P17 at the corner of 5th and C streets.

Weed control is as important to wildlife as it is to farming and ranching.

Workshops include:

  • Managed grazing and ecological restoration.
  • Herbicides for rangeland weeds.
  • Bioherbicides for cheatgrass, Medusahead and jointed goatgrass management.
  • Technical and financial assistance for dealing with weeds.
  • Weed Board updates from Lincoln and Spokane Counties
  • Landowner cost share program.

Prize drawings and refreshments will be offered. Pesticide credits are available. No preregistration required.
