19-pound rainbows top Pend Oreille fall fishing derby
FISHING -- A 19.02-pound rainbow measuring 32.5 inches long and entered in the Adult Rainbow Division by Don Hale is the winning fish caught in the 2016 Lake Pend Oreille Fall Fishing Derby, according to unofficial results released today.
The fish barely topped the 19-pound, 35-inch rainbow caught by Alexis Berube to win the Junior Division.
Gale Belgarde Jr. won the Adult Mackinaw Division with an 18.84 pounder that measured 36 inches.
The annual event sponsored by the Lake Pend Oreille Idaho Club started Nov. 19 and ran through Sunday with a one-day break for Thanksgiving Day.
Anglers competed for more than $10,000 in cash and prizes.
