FISHING -- A white sturgeon measuring 117 inches long has been confirmed as the Idaho state catch-and-release record.

The fish was caught in the Snake River on Aug. 16. Four anglers are listed in making the catch: Kirk, Lawaine and Seamus Fairchild and Homer Brown.

Idaho's white sturgeon weight record for rod and reel is 394 pounds caught in 1956. The state's all-time record, caught on set line, was 675 pounds caught in 1908. Both were taken in the Snake River.

Idaho still has nine species wide open for catch and release records.
