Three big nordic skiing, snowshoeing events coming at Mount Spokane

OUTBOUND –Three popular annual events at Mount Spokane State Park for nordic skiers and snowshoers are coming up in February:

  • Women’s Souper Bowl, Feb. 5, the 12th annual women- and girls-only event featuring snowshoeing and cross-country skiing activities and lunch to benefit the Women and Children’s Free Restaurant & Community Kitchen Snowshoes will be available to borrow. Bus transportation is available. Event ends in time for participants to leave in time for the Super Bowl football telecast. Register online by Wednesday. Info: souperbowlspokane.org.
  • Spokane Langlauf, Feb. 12, the 37th annual 10-kilometer classic-style citizens ski race, features a competitive field followed by citizen skiers. New start time is 10 a.m. All participants eligible for post-event prize drawings. Info: spokanelanglauf.org.
  • Mt. Spokane Nordic Cup, Feb. 18-19, featuring classic and freestyle races. Although the event is open to skiers of all ages including masters divisions, it’s also a national junior nordic qualifying event that will attract some of the region’s top teen skiers. Info: spokanenordic.org.
