FISHING -- Fishermen marvel at steelhead, and so do grade school kids.

This video, captured by a fifth grader, shares the wide-eyed joy of a kid witnessing a fish coming to life.

Students at Webster Elementary in Lewiston, Idaho, are able to study this spectacle of hatching eggs as part of the Steelhead in the Classroom Program supported by state and federal agencies.

Eggs were delivered to participating schools from Dworshak Hatchery on March 6. Students will raise the fish until mid-May before releasing the young steelhead into the Clearwater River at Spalding Park.

Some Spokane classrooms are participating in similar projects backed by Trout Unlimited.
