Man in closed probe jailed on meth charge
Police aren't investigating an allegation he stabbed someone in Spokane Valley on Memorial Day, but a traffic stop involving Matthias Piggot led to the suspect being jailed on a drug charge two nights ago.
Piggot, 28, posted bond after appearing in Superior Court Thursday on one count of possession of a controlled substance. He was arrested with suspected methamphetamine after Spokane police saw him driving on Stevens near Francis on Wednesday and learned his driver's license was suspended.
On May 31, Spokane Valley police searched Piggot's home at 2923 N. Maple Road in Millwood and retrieved the knife believe to have been used in a stabbing. But the investigation ended when the victim refused to cooperate.
The same home was searched in a drug investigation last December. A Spokane police officer recognized Piggot from that search when he saw him in traffic Wednesday, according to an affidavit supporting the meth possession charge.
Piggot is to be arraigned June 23.
