Prosecutor, sheriff candidates debate on KSPS

Election Day is Tuesday, and if you still haven't decided which candidate for Spokane County prosecutor or sheriff you're supporting, these televised debates that aired last night on KSPS-TV may help you decide.

Check out the videos after the jump.

Prosecutor candidates Larry Haskell (R) and Breean Beggs (D) were asked how they would have handled several high-profile cases differently than current officeholder Steve Tucker, weighed in on their priorities in prosecuting marijuana cases and how they would reach out to the community to explain charging decisions.

Republican candidates for sheriff Ozzie Knezovich (the incumbent) and Spokane Police Detective Doug Orr sparred over the Deputy Sheriff Association's decision to back Orr and whether the county needs a new jail.

Full disclosure: This reporter was a panelist who helped craft the questions asked of candidates. Also on the panel were Shawn Chitnis of KREM and Melissa Luck of KXLY. The debates were moderated by KXLY Newsradio 920 AM morning show host Kristi Gorenson.
