The Slice

The morning after

For those not directly touched by the tragedies resulting from the wind, here are some of the things being talked about this morning.

Trees on houses.

Trees on cars.

Downed fences.

The long lines at coffee drive-thrus this morning.

The amount and variety of wine consumed last night.

Implications for Spokane area birth rate nine months from now.

Garage door issues (the ones that require electricity).

Fireplace issues (high winds forcing smoke back down the chimney last night).

The sounds when the wind was at its peak.

Personal hygiene forecasts.

Battery recharging strategies.

Are these shingles from our roof or a neighbor's?

The fate of food in freezers.

How long water will stay warm in a water heater.

Will garbage pickup stay on schedule?

How close this was to the Ice Storm anniversary.

It was odd to listen to AM radio from distant cities and hear about life going on as usual.

Has the biggest news story of 2016 already happened?

Checking on one's neighbors.

Differences/similarities between this event and a zombie apocalypse.

The "shared experience" aspect of all this.
