The Slice

Crossing guards then vs. now

I realize children today are considered vulnerable in a way they weren't when I was in the sixth grade, back during those simpler times of worrying about the hydrogen bomb.

And I know there's something to be said for adult supervision. Moreover, I am even aware that "Back in my day" stories get old.

But I have to tell you. I would have hated serving as a crossing guard with a grownup as my partner.
