The Slice

When the typewriter has a mind of its own

Seventh grade teacher Jean Oxrieder had two things working against her.

She was a lousy typist.

And she was in a hurry.

She was typing up "The Night Before Christmas."

But what she failed to realize, until after she had distributed copies to her students, was that she had made a mistake.

You know the line, "Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound"?

Sure. Well, instead of "a bound," she had typed "a blond."

"The boys in my class got a big kick out of that," she said.

As, no doubt, Santa would have.
