The Slice

Not an autograph but still pretty good

Got a note from Kathy Schafer.

"I know I have mentioned before that I lived on Midway Island in the Pacific Ocean from 1954 to 1955. I was a fourth grader. During that point in time the movie 'Mister Roberts' was partially filmed very near the island."

Getting autographs of actors such as James Cagney, Ward Bond and Jack Lemmon was easy.

But one brush with fame that did not result in an autograph might have been her family's favorite.

"We didn't get William Powell's but my mother was absolutely thrilled when he actually picked up my 4-year-old brother and tossed him up and down -- making him laugh and giggle!"
