The Slice

Why we love dogs

At first glance, it just looked like some guy walking his dog.

Then, from maybe half a block away, it appeared that it might be an elderly canine and they were going slow because of that. Really slow.

But upon getting close enough to actually see, the truth revealed itself.

The man was the elderly one. He had white hair under a ballcap and an almost halting gait.

The dog, probably a Lab/retriever mix, might be a senior citizen, too. But it was the walker with two legs setting the pace. And the dog understood.

You could tell. The dog was just happy to be out taking a walk with the old man. There was no reason to hurry. No reason at all.
