When we're in a persistent thaw/refreeze cycle, sidewalks that have been faithfully shoveled and kept pristine by homeowners can be the most treacherous.
Ask anyone who is out early, before the temperatures start to climb.
What to do?
Well, wearing those pull-on cleats or overshoe chains can be a good idea. Of course, I suppose it's only a matter of time before someone writes a letter to the editor complaining that those devices are wearing out our sidewalks.
