The Slice

Possible reasons why the teenage grocery sacker might be addressing you as “Man”

A) He assumes you are a child of the '60s. B) He has mistaken you for either Cheech or Chong. C) He is about to act out an extended scene from "Easy Rider." D) He is unaware that you sold out long ago. E) He assumes you will get a kick out of not being defined as a person who has forgotten what it felt like to have a freak flag, even if you don't fly it all that often. F) He somehow senses that you have been high more times than he has had hot meals. G) It is his misguided though friendly idea of how to interact with grocery shoppers. H) He is signaling that though he works for a mainstream business he has not embraced corporate values. I) He is about to declare that the New York State Thruway is closed, man. J) Other.
