South Perry Blog

Welcome to the South Perry Blog

Welcome to the South Perry neighborhood blog.

My name is Pia Hallenberg and I’ve worked as a journalist in Spokane since the fall of 1998; for the last four years I’ve lived on South Perry Street. I love the neighborhood so when time came to pick an area for The Spokesman-Review’s first neighborhood blog, the choice was simple: South Perry is where it’s at.

To begin with, I'll focus on three major areas: neighborhood news, crime watch and family activities. Think of the South Perry Blog as your very own neighborhood newspaper - let me know about upcoming picnics and community classes, special painting projects and swap meets.

Did your dog go missing? Send me a photo and a short description - and let's see if we can find it. Having a multi-family garage sale? Tell me about it. Someone broke into your garage? Let me know when and where it happened - let's help each other keep the neighborhood safe.

Can't reach city hall? I'm your gal - let me know what bugs you and let's see if we can't get it figured out.

With time, I'm hoping to grow the blog to include a perennial/garden swap section and I’m open to suggestions for other features – let me know what you need.

If your business has a Facebook page let me know and I'll link to it from the blog. Please e-mail news items, stories and photos to southperryblog@gmail.com.

I’ll be out in the neighborhood every Thursday morning from 7-10 a.m. and I hope you’ll stop by and say ‘hi’ – I’m the woman with the laptop and the reporter’s notebook.

Follow the blog or follow me on Twitter to find out where I’ll be next week.
