Rocky Treppiedi, a longtime member of the Spokane School District 81 board, has a narrow lead over newcomer Jerrall Haynes in Tuesday night's vote count.

The two split the district's precincts, which include most of the City of Spokane, and some nearby suburbs. Haynes got most of his support from the central core of Spokane and its lower South Hill precincts. Treppiedi did better outside those precincts, in the south, southeast and northwest voting districts.

The race is one of the county's tightest and may not be settled for several days.
