Fire season officially over

OLYMPIA -- Washington just came through its worst fire season on record, so it is with great relief we can say Fire Season is officially over.

That word comes from the Department of Natural Resources, which tracks the fires and dispatches crews to fight some of them.

It's more of a calendar thing, though. Not all fires are completely extinguished. The Kaniksu fire in northeastern Washington is still burning.  Apparently it didn't get the memo.

But the potential for new wildfires is low.
