The Spokane Valley Fire Department responded to a two alarm fire at ASC Machine Tools in the 900 block of North Fancher yesterday just after 5 p.m. Workers at a neighboring business called 911 when they saw smoke coming from the building, said Fire Marshal Kevin Miller in a press release. Employees told firefighters that there had been 20 people in the building, but they had all made it out.

It took 30 minutes and nine fire trucks (including two from the Spokane Fire Department) to put out the flames and Fancher was shut down between Broadway and Desmet for some time. One employee was taken to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. The fire started in a paint booth, but the cause is still under investigation, Miller said. It's not known when the building can be used again.
