Two games, two outcomes


COUGARS

Isn't college athletics fun? Last Friday, WSU's women's basketball team handed the University of Hawaii an 18-point defeat. The two teams played again Monday. Read on to find out what happened this time.

• Of course, this time WSU lost (why else would I have mentioned it?). The Cougars, as has been their M.O. this season, started slowly and dug a hole too large to overcome.

• Other than that, we don't have much to link. There's our Aaron Haskins' story, which we posted here last night, and that's about all. But, in our never-ending search for off-the-wall items with obscure WSU connections, we found this Sideline Smitty column in the Times. Why link it? Because Craig covered WSU for the Times for a few years. And, more importantly, it's worth celebrating the career of a good guy who shined a much-deserved spotlight on high school athletes, many of whom went on to compete for WSU.
