Talking WSU football in April

COUGARS

Another day, some more thoughts on the probable Apple Cup move. Say whatever you want about the idea, it sure has people all over the state talking about Washington State football in the middle of April. How often does that happen? Read on for the Saturday morning links.

• Let's not waste any time. The second scrimmage of the spring starts in less than 5 hours and we have just enough time to hop in the car and drive to Qwest to watch (just kidding, it's at Martin Stadium; I don't want anyone telling their buddies, "I read they moved today's scrimmage to Qwest. Let's go."). ... The West Side papers asked the Husky players and coaches their reaction to the probable switch and, like us the other day, we're met with a mostly who-cares response. As Andy Mattingly said, they're football players, they would play the game in Colfax or Ellensburg if told. Here's Bob Condotta's story in the Times, Todd Milles' piece in the News Tribune and John Boyle's article from Everett. ... Freelancer Howie Stalwick weighs in with an opinion piece in the Kitsap Sun. ... The Times' Bud Withers talked with Paul Wulff this week and summarized spring thus far.

• That's it for this morning. The Cougars hit the turf about 11:30 a.m. this morning, run through their stuff, stretch and then scrimmage for about an hour. We'll have a report. Until then …
