Shock sign another Dillon

Spokane has added another Dillon, Ronald 'Rock' Dillon, to their roster, after announcing earlier this week the return of Charles Dillon.

There's also more on Josh Leonard joining the Tampa Bay practice squad below.

The Spokane Shock announced today that DB Ronald “Rock” Dillon has been added to the 2010 roster. In another roster move, OL Josh Leonard (who the Shock signed on November 20th), was placed on other league exempt after he signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ practice squad. Dillon, 6-0 220, spent the 2008 season with the Grand Rapids Rampage and tallied 42 tackles with two interceptions.  In 2007, Dillon played for the af2’s Alabama Steeldogs and registered 46.5 tackles with two interceptions in only ten games. He also lined up as a wide receiver for the Steeldogs   and accounted for 12 receptions for 139 yards with four touchdowns.

“Rock is a versatile athlete – he can lineup at defensive back, jack linebacker and wide receiver,” Head Coach Rob Keefe said. “You need those kinds of players if you are going to be successful in this league.”

Although Dillon has not been to Spokane, he is well aware of the success that the Shock have had over their four-year existence.  He is hopeful that the team’s success will help reach his ultimate goal – the NFL.

“The teams that move their guys up are teams that have winning programs and take good care of their players,” Dillon explained. “One thing I know about Spokane is that they win games and they take care of their guys.”

Dillon said that playing for Keefe also played a role in his decision to join the Shock.

“When Coach Keefe called that’s what really pushed me towards Spokane,” Dillon explained. “I had a lot of other teams calling but I didn’t really want to play for them. I feel comfortable with Coach Keefe. He told me to just be the player that he knows I can be.”
