I didn't post earlier this morning for a variety of reasons ranging from a time crunch getting back to Pullman to very few items floating quickly to the surface. But now I'm down in Pullman waiting for the teleconferences for June Daugherty and Tony Bennett to begin and I had a little more time to dig deeper. Read on for what I found.

• Though it's the middle of January, and there's quite a bit of snow on the ground, football seems to be the sport of choice right now. There's a couple things to check out. Washington has hired another Idaho vet for its staff, picking Joel Thomas as the running back coach. And this fall's Pac-10 schedule is still a ways from being finalized, but that doesn't mean people don't have opinions about how it should be set up, including Buster Sports' Nick Daschel.

On the basketball front, the Arizona Republic's Doug Haller ranks the Pac-10 each week. As for features, there's this on UCLA's Nikola Dragovic.
