Looking back at WSU’s defeat

COUGARS

Washington State will be back on the diamond in a couple hours, so let's catch up with what happened yesterday. Even if you don't want to, read on.
••••••••••

• Last night I was watching ESPN's coverage of UC Irvine's 4-2 win over Fresno State when, right in the middle of an inning, ESPN Classic (we don't get ESPNU on Comcast in Spokane) went to old-time wrestling. Sort of like what happened to the Cougars yesterday. Right in the middle of the eighth inning, they went from playing like champions to wrestling with a big defeat. (OK, a reach, I know.) Anyhow, we had this story from an Oklahoma freelancer that has all the details on WSU's opening-round loss. Freelencer Howie Stalwick is in Norman and he had this story in the Kitsap Sun and other papers. The Seattle Times also had a local freelancer write for it. Finally, the only free story from Arkansas I could find. The Daily Oklahoman has this story on the Cougar game and this one on Wichita State's loss to Oklahoma. The Shockers are WSU's opponent today.

• That's it for this morning. We'll be back in the afternoon with more. Until then …
