Vandals sweep their own tourney
Three games, three wins. That's what the Idaho men's basketball team accomplished in its inaugural Basketball Travelers Classic at Moscow's Memorial Gym. The Vandals improved to 5-3 with a 75-60 win over Eastern Michigan (1-6) in the tournament's finale Sunday evening, their fourth straight win after a woeful performance at Montana. "We probably had one of the worst performances in Idaho basketball history at Montana, and to come back and win four straight is a credit to the guys on our team and their character,” coach Don Verlin said.
Point guard Deremy Geiger -- in his first year at UI -- was named the Most Outstanding Player of the event. The BTC was the first regular season tourney in Moscow in 21 years.
