EWU’s Jones out with broken foot
Eastern Washington's No. 1-ranked football team will be without the services of all-American running back Taiwan Jones for Friday night's FCS semifinal playoff matchup against visiting Villanova.
According to EWU's head athletic trainer Brian Norton, x-rays taken on Sunday showed that Jones suffered a fracture to the base of the 5th metatarsal in his left foot in Saturday's 38-31 overtime playoff win over North Dakota State. According to Norton, Jones will consult with an orthopedic specialist on Monday to see if surgery is necessary.
Norton added therer might be a slight chance Jones could return for the FCS championship on Jan. 7 -- provided surgery is performed, and the Eagles make it past Villanova at Roos Field on Friday night.
