WSU’s win over Santa Clara, next-day look

COUGARS • UPDATE: 2:20 P.M.

Let's see. The Cougar men's basketball team will be taking the long flight to Hawaii today, where it will be somewhere in the neighborhood of 80 degrees when they disembark. Here in Eastern Washington, more snow fell over night, which will mean more shoveling and more slogging through to get the Christmas shopping done. Read on.

• Washington State: For a game that was sparsely attended, both by fans (1,897 was the official attendance) and the media (the Mercury News paid to have someone there, but we were back in the snowy confines of Spokane), there are a lot of writeups to pass along. ... We had our piece, which had a typo (since fixed) in the lede, so we're apologetic (and apoplectic) about that. To the fine readers of our paper edition, sorry, can't fix it now. ... The good folks over at CougCenter had this summary as did their counterparts at the WSU Football Blog. ... Cougfan had this piece and Ryan Collingwood in Lewiston put together this blog post. ... Looking ahead, CougCenter has this quick preview of the Diamond Head Classic. It includes a TV schedule, so you'll see all the WSU games will be on ESPNU unless the Cougars make the title game. ... UPDATE: A couple of other links for you, one from ESPN.com that a couple readers passed on and this AP ballot from the Daily News' Scott Wolf passed along by Tom Floyd. And there are the usual charts from CougCenter.

• That's it for this morning. A couple of personal notes. I am still taking daily treatments, which leave me feeling a little worn out and discombobulated. But otherwise, it's going well. We will be done early this week and hope, like you, to watch the Cougars play in Hawaii from the comfort of my living room. Thinking about turning the thermostat up to 83 just to get that Hawaiian feel. Until later ...
