Chiefs face Americans

The Spokane Chiefs head down the road for their annual New Years Eve battle with the Tri-City Americans. Herald writer Annie Fowler has a look at the game, which should be a dandy, though it marks just the first second of the second half of the Western Hockey League schedule for the Chiefs.

Chiefs captain Jared Cowen and Team Canada face their toughest test today at the World Junior tournament. Sure makes you wish you had that cable channel.

Finally, it's put up or shut up time in Everett, which leads us a good discussion point. On the heels of the Portland blockbuster trade, with the trade deadline near, what woud you do if you were in charge of the Chiefs?  The Chiefs, who also have a big game on New Year's Day, are home next weekend and we'll have a thought on the Chiefs' possibilities before that.

Happy New Year. Be safe.
