An expansive news day at WSU

COUGARS

A busy day with links. It makes sense seeing that yesterday was a busy day with news items. We're also headed to the Bay Area this afternoon as WSU prepares for Stanford and Cal. So let's get going. Read on.
••••••••••

• Washington State: We put together a WSU notebook, that contained three items related to WSU basketball, including Sunday's game at Portland State. Not Sunday's WSU game, but a basketball game that the San Francisco Chronicle's Vittorio Tafur thinks justifies replaying the final .3 seconds of the Oregon game. How about, at the very least, an apology? ... We also had the news on Brandon Jones' arrest and subsequent dismissal from the football team. ... If you want to listen to Ken Bone's presser from yesterday, you can here. ... Expansion of Husky Stadium - and keeping Safeco Field in pristine condition - was dealt a blow in the legislature. ... And, finally, our John Blanchette weighs in on expansion. No, not of the Pac-10 but of the NCAA Tournament.

•••

• Around the Pac-10: Speaking of expansion, there's a lot of discussion about it, including this Bud Withers' column in the Times. ... There is also a story with a Northwest bent in the News Tribune and Ray Ratto's column in the Chronicle. ... OK, enough of the expansion talk. It's making me think of my waistline. Let's get to basketball. You know, the sport that is played during this time of the year? With the Pac-10 already in the stretch run, Washington is looking for ways to get out of its road funk. ... The first chance is at Cal, but that will prove a tough nut to crack. The Bears are in the conference's driver's seat. Until Thursday night, of course. ... Oregon State is looking for help from the outside against ASU's zone. ... Oregon could get another player back this week. ... Will it be payback time for UCLA this weekend?

•••

• That's all for this morning. We'll be back if events warrant it. Until then ...
