WSU trails 40-26 at the half

COUGARS

Yes, and it could have been worse. What with UCLA shooting nearly 70 percent from the field. It didn't matter what defense the Cougars played, zone or man, they didn't play either well. And, when the shots stopped falling and the turnovers began to burn, WSU gave up one of those 14-point runs. It turned a 26-24 nailbiter into a 40-24 laugher. Only a last-second DeAngelo Casto basket cut the lead into, well decent range isn't the right term, so we won't use. But it was a sign of life. ... How bad was the ball handling as the clock wound down? WSU had seven turnovers in the final 5 minutes, 46 seconds of the half. ... No Cougar has more than six points (Klay Thompson and Reggie Moore, who also has three fouls). ... UCLA's Tyler Honeycutt has twice that. ... We'll be back after the game. ...
