WSU vs. Arkansas game thread

• Top of first: Paris Shewey starts for WSU and walks leadoff hitter Collin Kuhn. Zack Cox and Brett Eibner follow with hits for a run, Andy Wilkins' sacrifice fly plates another and a two-out single by James McCann adds a third. 3-0 Arkansas

• Bottom of first: TJ Forrest, who relieved in the first game between these teams, put the Cougars away, three up, three down. 3-0 Arkansas

• Top of second: Two quick outs, then Cox doubled to left and Eibner walked. Wilkins struck out swinging. 3-0 Arkansas

• Bottom of second: Matt Fanelli leads off with a home run to left. Michael Weber singles to right. Brett Jacobs flies out to left. Michael Weber grounds into a 6-4-3 double play. 3-1 Arkansas

• Top of third: Kreder singled to right. Bigham sacrificed. McCann walks. Matt Vinson singles to left, bases loaded. Seth Harvey relieves Shewey. Tim Carver loops a single to right, Kreder scores and McCann is out at the plate. Vinson to third, Carver to second. Kuhn doubles to left, Vinson and Carver score. Cox lines out to Shea Vucinich, who dives to his right to make the play. 6-1 Arkansas

• Bottom of third: Vucinich blooped a single to left. Jay Ponciano flied out to left. Garry Kuykendall lines into a 7-3 double play on a hit-and-run gone awry. 6-1 Arkansas

• Top of fourth: Harvey got two quick outs but walks Kreder. Bingham singles to left center. McCann lines out to Bartlett at second. 6-1 Arkansas

• Bottom of the fourth: Bartlett was safe on shortstop Carver's boot, advancing to second on another Carver throwing error. Jones is safe at first on Derrick Bleeker's error, Bartlett stopping at third. Fanelli struck out swinging. Weber singled off Bingham's glove at second, Bartlett scoring and Jones to third. Jacobs hits into 5-4-3 double play. 6-2 Arkansas

• Top of the fifth: Vinson walks on four pitches. Carver sacrifices Vinson to second. Kuhn hit by pitch. Bleeker walks to load bases. Eibner strikes out looking. Wilkins flies out to deep center. 6-2 Arkansas

• Bottom of the fifth: Cougars go down in order, Peterson grounds out, Vucinich and Ponciano strike out. 6-2 Arkansas

• Top of the sixth: Michael Ratigan replaces Harvey on the mound for the Cougars. Kreder grounds out to third. Bingham lines out to Kuykendall who makes a diving catch in center. McCann safe at first on Vucinich's error. Vinson grounds out to short. 6-2 Arkansas

• Bottom of the sixth: Kuykendall walks. Kuykendall steals second. Bartlett grounds out to first, Kuykendall takes third. Drew Smyly replaces Forrest. Jones lines out to shortstop. Fanelli strikes out. 6-2 Arkansas

• That's it for tonight. The Cougars fell behind early and couldn't get the bats going against Arkansas' Forrest, Smyly and Eibner.
