Shock release Dodd-Masters, sign Brookins

Spokane has made a couple of personnel moves, releasing Ruschard Dodd-Masters and signing Mervin Brookins. Both play defensive back.

The Shock didn't have a choice regarding Dodd-Masters. He apparently played two games for Wenatchee Valley of the AIFA after March 1st. Per Arena Football League rules, players who have played on teams in lower leagues (AIFA, IFL, etc.) after March 1 are ineligible to play on an AFL team this season (first I've heard of that rule!).

The league office notified Spokane of the situation earlier this week. Head coach Rob Keefe wasn't aware Dodd-Masters, who is married and lives in Spokane, had played for the Venom. Dodd-Masters didn't play in any Shock games.

Brookins played for Stockton in the af2 and was with AFL Oklahoma City earlier this season. He had 12 tackles in four games for OKC.
