4A girls: Mead leads at half

Imagine this: The Mead Panthers are leading at halftime for a change.

In a game featuring mostly atrocious shooting from the field - especially by Mead - the Panthers have a 23-22 lead. Senior guard Jazmine Redmon hit a 3-pointer with nine seconds to go before halftime.

Mead didn't make its first field goal until 5-minute, 41-second mark of the second quarter. The Panthers missed their first 17 shots. And they led 7-3 at the end of the first quarter without having made a basket. What kept the Panthers in the game in the first half were free throws - a result of the Panthers aggressively attacking the basket, even if they couldn't make many. Mead made 13 of 15 foul shots.
