Snowflakes fall on WSU practice

COUGARS

Washington State didn't practice all that long today, but they did work on fundamentals, hitting, execution – all the usual items on any bye-week checklist. No new injuries, very little news. We have a little more so read on.

• We talked with Jared Karstetter and Marquess Wilson after practice for a story we're doing during Apple Cup week, but because it wasn't all that warm – understatement – and the two wanted to get back on the field for some extra work, we didn't talk much beyond the subject for the story. Karstetter, Jeff Tuel, Nolan Washington and a couple others stayed after to work on the passing game. ... During practice, it was amazing how well the WSU quarterbacks did in their passing drills. Their accuracy was exceptional considering the cold weather and the occasional snowflakes. ... Gino Simone, wearing a yellow jersey, made a couple outstanding catches while Carl Winston and Isiah Barton made back-to-back one-handed catches during team scrimmage. ... The best run of the day was turned in by James Montgomery, who exploded through a hole on the right side for a 15-yard gain. ... Washington turned in the only interception I saw as the Cougars scrimmaged for about a quarter of the practice. ... Once again John Fullington, Wade Jacobson and Deone Bucannon sat out practice. They were joined by Daniel Blackledge from the starting group. Alex Hoffman-Ellis participated in about three-quarters of practice before heading in for treatment. ... WSU will hold one more workout tomorrow morning before getting Thanksgiving week off. Monday's practice will be in the bubble as a large snowfall is predicted for the Pullman area.

• That's all for now. We'll be back tomorrow with a post before another day of practice. Until then ...
