Thursday morning WSU links

COUGARS

We're starting a little late today so let's get right to it. We linked all our stories last night on an easy-to-find post, so read on for other stuff.
••••••••••

• Washington State: The post we linked above also has our practice notes, if you're interested. ... Braulio Perez, writing for Cougfan, had this practice report this morning. ... We checked the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star Telegram this morning and couldn't find anything in depth on SMU, sorry. ... By the way, in the hour I spent Wednesday morning trying to discover a way to send files to our front-end system from my new computer with updated software, I some how deleted a paragraph from my Pac-10 picks. Nice. So here it is, just so I can get it on the record: Wake Forest at Stanford (Stanford by 17): Last year the Cardinal had a win taken from them late by the Deacons. This year, the Cardinal take Wake Forest's pride. Stanford, 34-21.

• Around the Pac-10: The stock market is pretty flat right bnow, which makes Ted Miller's Pac-10 stock report on ESPN.com the only one that's going up or down. He also has his picks for the week and what to watch for this weekend. ... Chris Dufresne has his college football notebook... Washington: Lots of news from Montlake this morning, with Steve Kelley columnizing about linebacker Mason Foster (is columnizing a word?) and Bob Condotta writing about a key matchup. ... Defensive coordinators have a special look all their own. ... Oregon State: Though the Beavers' defense got beat down pretty good at TCU, no major changes were made. ... Centers seem only to get attention when they make a big mistake. ... Oregon: Portland State isn't afraid to play the Ducks. That doesn't seem smart. ... The big news from Eugene revolves around the investigation of the basketball program, which seems to deal with agents (as if any of the Ducks last season really needed agents). Former coach Ernie Kent said he was not aware of any problems. ... It's another blow new coach Dana Altman has to absorb. ... Cal: The Bears seem to have a full stable of good linebackers. ... Stanford: The starting time Saturday is the latest in school history. ... USC: The Trojans now are living in the same world as the rest of the Pac-10. ... UCLA: The Bruins are making changes on defense. ... Arizona State: The Sun Devils' defense is supposed to be really good. Coordinator Craig Bray isn't so sure. ... Arizona: The Wildcat defense expects to have its hands full this Saturday.

• That's all for this morning. We'll be back this evening with notes from Paul Wulff's press conference. Until then ...
