Former Washington State University All-America defensive lineman Chad Eaton has left his position as a graduate assistant with the Cougars, coach Paul Wulff confirmed Sunday.

"The bottom line is he has chosen to leave (the program) at this time and he may (have a future) opportunity to help ... with (senior associate athletic director) Mike Marlow," Wulff said, adding he was unwilling to discuss the departure in greater detail. "He's worked with Mike already with former players and fund-raising."

Eaton was with the Cougars in their game at SMU, sitting in the coach's booth, but did not attend practice last week.

Eaton, who played at WSU from 1992 to 1994, earned his degree earlier this year from Washington State and joined the staff in the fall.
