WSU fine-tunes kicking game

COUGARS

As we buzz around the interweb looking for stories to link, our eyes are sometimes drawn to the ads on the websites. The one that caught us today like a fly in a web was a video for the Pima County Fair down in Tucson. The people looked as if they were having so much fun. Riding rollercoasters, eating hot dogs, walking with friends, good times. The mind wanders when vacation is just around the corner.  We got back to searching for stories. Read on.

• Washington State: Told you last night in my post-practice notes I would link my story on the kicking game when it was posted. Except I went to bed before that happened. I know, it was put up around 9 p.m. Sorry, I'm old. For some reason lately I've been drawn to buffets. And have been wearing my pants higher. ... Today is the first day of the spring letter-of-intent period, but I don't expect 6-foot-9 post D.J. Shelton's signing to be announced until later. Things are a little less maniac in the spring. ... And that's about it for this morning.

• Around the Pac-12: Register-Guard columnist George Schroeder looks at how the uniform changes that seem to be popping up all over the place had their genesis at one school, with one athletic director. ... Washington: Defensive tackle Alameda Ta'amu has a chance to be one of the Huskies' greats. ... Oregon State: The Beavers reward a hard worker on the basketball team with a scholarship. ... There's a new center in charge of the offensive line. ... Oregon: Nothing here. ... Colorado: With a new coach in town, a starting quarterback is named and a handful or players are asked to leave. ... Utah: When Will Clyburn said he was going to transfer, he said he wanted to be closer to his Chicago home. He's getting there, but still isn't in the same state. ... California: Nothing. ... Stanford: Nothing. ... USC: When a player's career is cut short by injury, he can still lend a hand. Been happening pretty consistently at WSU and now with the Trojans. ... UCLA: Malcolm Lee may not have hired an agent as of yet (he's going to), but he's dropped out of school. ... Arizona State: The Cougars had the new-look uniform focus to themselves for all of 18 hours. Thanks Nike. ... Arizona: There's a new punter in town. ... Letters of intent don't arrive on the first day for a variety of reasons.

• That's it for this morning. With no football practice today, we'll be back only if events warrant. Until later ...
