WSU has one last spring trip

COUGARS

Dateline Pullman. This will be our last report from the wilds of the Palouse for a while. We are making the dangerous trek up 195 to Spokane today, then hunkering down in anticipation of tomorrow’s spring game. We’ll be blogging from the big city over the next couple days as we wrap up spring and all that entails. Then it’s off on vacation. But before we can fly out of here, we have to finish our coverage. Read on for more from WSU and the Pac-12.

••••••••••

• Washington State: We had our practice report up last night, which included our story for this morning’s paper, but we’ll repeat the links here. ... We also had our weekly college baseball notebook in the paper this morning, with the Cougars’ current situation in the lead-off role. ... Bud Withers looks at WSU's courtship with Spokane. ... And that’s it for now.

•••

• Around the Pac-12: Think about this. If the next TV deal nets each conference school $18 million a year, that’s more than a third of WSU’s annual budget right now. How would you like to get a pay raise for more than a third of your annual salary? Heck, I could buy a new pair of cords. ... Jon Wilner takes a stab at next year’s basketball race. ... Washington: A couple of features, one on safety Justin Glenn and the other on receiver James Johnson. Hey, it sounds like a good matchup. ... Oregon State: Nothing. ... Oregon: Nothing. ... Colorado: The Buffs have signed one basketball player this week. ... Utah: Andy Hill, who has a lot of ties to this area, is headed to the Utes as an assistant basketball coach. ... California: Nothing. ... Stanford: Nothing. ... USC: The Trojans may be counting on a redshirt freshman quarterback to play a backup role. ... UCLA: The Bruins may be counting on a true freshman quarterback to lead the way. ... Arizona State: The way the weather has been up here, it’s no wonder Jake Plummer made a trip to Tempe to talk with the football team. ... Arizona: The Wildcats will hold their spring game tomorrow as well and ESPN.com's Ted Miller has some notes in anticipation of that. ... Running back Daniel Jenkins will bring his family.

•••

• That's all for this morning. No football today, so we’ll only be back if events warrant. Until later ...
