It’s finally game week at WSU

COUGARS

Unless you have been on vacation in Antarctica or pulling a Rip Van Winkle at the lake, you probably realize the college football season begins this week. So we don't have to remind you that the Cougars host Idaho State on Saturday. We'll have our first look at the Bengals in tomorrow's S-R. Today we have links from around the Pac-12. Read on.

••••••••••

• Washington State: We don't have anything to pass that we can take credit for, but we do have this feature from Howie Stalwick on defensive line coach Todd Howard, in his first season at WSU.

•••

• Around the Pac-12: Unlike most Mondays, there is quite a bit today from around the conference, including Ted Miller's power rankings on ESPN.com. ... San Jose's Jon Wilner ranks the conference's schedule – he has WSU with the easiest – and looks at the BCS. ... Washington: Speaking of schedules, the Huskies have changed their philosophy. ... Oregon State: Nothing. ... Oregon: Nothing. ... California: Nothing. ... Stanford: And nothing. ... Colorado: The backup quarterback is back in action. Hey, it's game week. ... Utah: You could run this headline for just about every team in America. ... USC: The Trojans received a nice surprise over the weekend. ... UCLA: The Bruins have been mediocre most of this century. ... Arizona State: The Sun Devils pick a backup quarterback. ... Arizona: An unlikely last year for a Wildcat defensive end.

• That's it for now. We'll be back at practice tonight when the Cougars take the field in preparation for Saturday's opener, a game that will not be on TV. Until then ...
