WSU heads to Arizona

COUGARS

From snow to sun. Though the latter won't last long, as the U.S. Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for the Valley of the soon-to-be-hiding sun. Looks like rain for the weekend. Oh well. A high of 67 still looks pretty good when it hasn't been over 45 in a while. Read on.

• Washington State: The Cougars are already en route to Tucson. Just a few weeks ago, Arizona took the same trip in reverse. The 65-63 win in Pullman seemed to jump start the Wildcats' season. They haven't lost since. ... As we said in a post yesterday, we also cover college baseball in the area, which opens this weekend. With that in mind, we pass along this story we did for the Review. It includes the local teams, including GU and Whitworth. ... And that's about it from around WSU for now, though we had some more on last night's post.

• Around the Pac-10: Bud Withers talked with commissioner Larry Scott about the changes in football officiating. ... The Huskies' Venoy Overton is playing much better lately, though UW still has that old home/road divide. ... Oregon and Oregon State don't meet until the weekend, but the importance of the game has changed Jared Cunningham's lifestyle. ... The Beavers have been practicing in the early morning hours this week. ... The NCAA will hold its annual mock selection meeting this weekend. ... Where will UCLA play its home games while Pauley Pavilion is being remodeled? No one knows for sure yet. ... California's Allen Crabbe still hasn't practiced due to the concussion he suffered last week. ... A look around the Pac-10. And one from the Bay Area.

• That's it for this morning. We're on the long road to Arizona today, so we probably won't be posting. But we'll try to get up our notes for tomorrow's paper at some point. Until then ...
