WSU leads 45-43 at the half

COUGARS

Though Washington State leads by two, there are danger signs for the Cougars. DeAngelo Casto, who has 11 points and seven rebounds, picked up his third foul with .3 seconds left on Isaiah Thomas double-clutch shot. The Huskies are also dominating the glass, 24-15, with nine of those offensive, leading to 10 points. ... But there are areas of concern for UW as well. Venoy Overton, greeted with boos every time he touches the ball, has three fouls as does Aziz N'Diaye, UW's 7-footer in the middle. Plus, WSU has 10 assists on its 17 baskets, so, for the most part, the Cougars are sharing the ball. Remember, they are 10-1 this year when they get assists on at least half their baskets. ... Klay Thompson, who was 4 of 29 in the two games vs. UW last year, is 5 of 10 in this one, though just 1 of 3 from beyond the arc. Faisal Aden had chipped in 10 points, but a few of his nine shots have been ill advised, leading to time on the bench. ... Though Thomas has yet to hit a shot from the field, he's influenced the game greatly, and not just by getting the foul on Casto. He also has had little problem at times getting to the middle of the WSU zone and kicking out, leading to three assists, though it seems like more. ... We'll be back here a couple hours after the end of the game. Until then ...
