Jamie Redman, a former Lewis and Clark High School athlete and valedictorian, is continuing her winning ways in Europe this month on the U.S. Women’s Rowing Team.

And to prove you can't run away from home, she ran into some North Central High School girls cross-country athletes in Switzerland (above) when she noticed their Bloomsday t-shirts in the Lucerne train station.

Redman already has won national championships on the Yale Rowing Team. Last fall, she was on the U.S.A. women’s 8 boat that won the World Championship in New Zealand.

Last week, her women’s 8 team won the prestigious Henley Royal Regatta on the Thames in England. Team members had to purchase hats to meet the dress code for the awards ceremony.

Friday her team, slightly adjusted from Henley, will race its first heat in Switzerland's World Cup Regatta, which has attracted teams from 50 countries.

“And because the 2011 World Champs are also the official Olympic Qualifying Regatta, you can rest assured that everyone is bringing their A-game to the starting line this weekend!” she said in an email.
