Idaho comes up short; PSU wins Sky

There is a ton of women's basketball news, and between the two State B championship games I'm covering I'm going to catch you up.

Read on.

Portland State edges Montana State 65-63 to win it's first-ever Big Sky Conference title, a pretty sweet senior day for Lexi Bishop (Shadle Park) and Kelli Valentine (Mead). The Vikings got help in hosting next week's tournament because Idaho State beat Northern Colorado.  ... Montana trips Eastern Washington 66-60 as the teams took turns ruining the other's Senior Day. Katie Baker (Lake City) had 18 for Montana. .. That means Eastern will face Montana State next Thursday in Portland. ISU vs. Montana. PSU & UNC get a bye.

Idaho lost a close game at WAC champion Louisiana Tech but Yinka Olorunnife gets the conference rebounding record.

Portland beats Santa Clara as Tara Cronin (G-Prep) goes over 1,000 career points and the Pilots face Gonzaga Sunday morning in the semfinals.

Tennessee made the SEC championship game (Sunday, 2:30, ESPN2) with Angie Bjorklund (U-Hi) getting 10 points as she ran her streak to 9-straight 3's before missing.

No. 9 UCLA handles Washington State, drawing 1,600 for the final game in Pauley before the remodel.

Back to the B's.

Lewis-Clark State advances to the Frontier Conference championship but the big news is the Warriors will host the title game because Carroll College and redshirt junior Alyssa Green (Mead) knocked off the top-seed. Green hit the game-winner with 2.2 seconds left.
