COUGARS

We promised we would be back after Paul Wulff's press conference – why, I'm not really sure – so we are. Read on.

••••••••••

• We turned Wulff's presser into this story for tomorrow's S-R. The one interesting thing that came out of the night was Wulff's insistence that this week's game is the only one that matters, which it true. You can't win the three games needed for a bowl game without winning the first one. It's funny that way. But this is a group of guys who have professed from day one they thought they had the talent to go to a bowl game this year and made that their goal. No one, of course, foresaw the loss of Jeff Tuel to injury – as the story says, Tuel will not return this week – so that probably put a bit of a crimp in their plan. ... On the quarterback front, Wulff said the plan is to get Connor Halliday some time before the year is out so the redshirt freshman has more experience under his belt going into next year when he'll be the backup at the very least (the last nine words of that sentence are mine, not Wulff's). ... Wulff also does an interview with the athletic department, which you can watch below.

• That's all for tonight. We'll be back in the morning. Until then ...
